CFGN runs four seasonal gatherings a year where growers meet to garden together, share skills, have lunch, see different food projects, hear news and discuss ways to act together on relevant issues.

It is also an opportunity to chat to food growers from CFGN member projects and find out more about how the network functions.

CFGN will be making our second visit to Sutton Community Farm – a 7.1 acre smallholding with views towards the skyline of central London.  The farm began in 2010 in response to a community need, with the purpose to increase access to fresh, healthy, sustainable food and provide a shared space for people to cultivate skills, get exercise and make friends.

The plan for the day is:

Noon – 1.30pm: Practical gardening session

An opportunity to work together in the garden, share skills and participate in timely tasks at Sutton Community Farm.

1.30 – 2.30pm: Lunch + Tour

People are invited to bring food/harvests to share which will contribute to lunch.

There will be a tour of the site and history of how the farm-
how it came to be, where it is now, and plans for the future!

2.30pm – 5pm: News + Discussions

A chance to hear news from community gardens across London, and action ways to support eachothers’ work.

Currently a focus for CFGN is ‘Access to Land’ and finding ways to secure long-term tenureship/ownership for community food projects in London.

We have just launched this petition asking London mayoral candidates to commit to five policies that will support an innovative, sustainable food system in the capital.

Please sign and share the petition.
