Call-out to map London Community Food projects

Ever wondered how to contact your nearest community food project to see if they run beginner courses?

Ever wanted to contact other growing sites in your area to borrow tools, exchange seeds, catch up on this season’s slug infestations?

For some months CFGN has been meeting community food growing projects finding out how volunteers can get involved, what kind of activities the sites run, what they produce and where it goes.

Venue Announced & Date Change: UK Food Sovereignty Movement Gathering

Message from the UK Food Sovereignty Movement Gathering Core Group:

We’ve found a great venue for the national food sovereignty gathering in Hebden Bridge. The date has been changed to 23-26 October due to availability. This is a couple of weeks later than we originally planned and we hope that this will still work for everyone.

A visit to Keats Community Organics

CFGN recently went to meet Keats Community Organics in Welling, South London.   Jack, Christina and Ed who set up Keats had been involved in ‘Food from the Sky’ where CFGN had held our Spring gathering in 2013.

As Keats was established in April last year we wanted to find out how the new garden was coming on and see if there were ways a network of growers could support the project’s next steps.

Take Action: Reclaim Our Food System

Re-posted from Land Workers’ Alliance website

Join the Landworkers’ Alliance (LWA) as we celebrate Via Campesina’s International day of Peasant Struggle:  Meet Wednesday April 29th, outside the Bury St Edmunds Railway Station, 1pm.

Last year the LWA took our message to DEFRA, this year we are targeting British Sugar PLC to expose the inequality and problems inherent in our industrial food system. Government support of big agri-businesses, like British Sugar PLC, threatens the health of our communities and the quality of our environment. And we’re subsidising exactly the wrong sort of agriculture.
